To strengthen the work of securing the rights of copyright holders, TONO will hire a new head of the Media Department. The Media Department in TONO negotiates and enters into agreements that grant permission to use music that TONO manages on behalf of the copyright holders. The Media Department's customers include radio and TV companies, actors that distribute radio and TV content, podcasts, as well as Norwegian and foreign companies that offer streaming of film and music content.
/ 22/08/2023 / Willy MartinsenThe new manager will be responsible for a team that accounts for a large portion of TONO's revenue. It is a motivated and competent team with strong expertise within a broad spectrum of platforms that use copyrighted musical works.
You will be responsible for the budget for the entire media area and will be responsible for entering into and following up on some of TONO's largest agreements and leading important negotiations with major media houses, broadcasters, distributors and service providers of film and music in Norway. Results are achieved both through direct negotiations and through partners.
We are looking for someone with good leadership skills and a strong commercial understanding. Experience in negotiations and contract work in both Norwegian and English is a great advantage. As the head of the Media Department, it is important to have knowledge of the media industry and digital developments in the industry.
You are analytical and have a good understanding of numbers, while also being able to think innovatively within an area that is undergoing rapid development.

TONO is owned and managed by composers, lyricists and music publishers, and manages on their behalf the economic copyrights in the music they have created. TONO grants permission for the use of protected music, for example on radio, TV, the internet, concerts and cinema for a fee, and transfers its financial result to music rights holders every year. TONO has 40,000 members, but also works for millions of composers, lyricists and music publishers from around the world. TONO's social role is twofold through, on the one hand, collecting and simplifying the licensing of protected music, and on the other, providing music creators with an economic basis for creating new musical works. TONO has 65 employees, and in 2022, it had a turnover of kr NOK 864,6 million.
