In short, Norsk Noteservice is a music publisher that, in addition to other publishing activities, manages the rights to print music. At the same time, they are an entire factory, with their own sheet music artist, physical and online store, warehouse, mail order and in-house printing. They produce between one and two million copies a year.
– We have a large number of affiliated arrangers and composers. If you want to cover the needs of all the way from aspiring bands to the best amateurs and professionals, you need to have a wide variety in repertoire and level of difficulty, says Thomas Wettergreen of Norsk Noteservice.
– We also sell sheet music down in Europe. People think we have many bands in Norway, but we send out 2000 band sets a year here in Norway, and 8000 in Germany, adds Steenberg.
The sheet music industry is an important part of the music economy. Sales generate income for both publishers and composers. It stimulates the creation of new music and the arrangement of old works. Furthermore, when the music reaches bands and choirs across the country, the music creators receive compensation for the performance.
