For many, music is at the heart of the Christmas spirit. Year after year we listen to the same songs without getting bored, and year after year radios are filled with nostalgia and tradition. In fact, a dedicated Christmas enthusiast has a handful of channels to choose from, serving up Christmas music 24 hours a day.

One of them is the radio chain Lokalradioene i Innlandets Christmas in the Inland.

“Every year our national competitors start their Christmas channels. We wanted a real local alternative, with a focus on local artists and music,” says Bjørn-Martin Brandett, general manager of Lokalradioene i Innlandet.

– A little light in the dark

This December morning, artist and songwriter Kim Rysstad is a guest on Lokalradioene in Innlandets studio in Hamar. In 2017, he released a Christmas album The snow is falling. with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Currently, his version of the Dumdum Boys song Stjernesludd is in high rotation on, among other things, Jul i Innlandet.

– As someone who loves Christmas music so much, I think it's great that it's being broadcast so much. It shows that people want it. If there wasn't a market for such channels, they wouldn't exist, says Rysstad.

Brandett believes that the pursuit of the Christmas spirit is especially important this year.

– People have never put up the Christmas tree so early as this year. We need some light in the dark.
