"TONO is positive that the ministry is proposing a new copyright law, and TONO supports the structural and linguistic changes that the ministry is proposing," says TONO in its consultation response to the Ministry of Culture.

TONO has submitted its consultation response to the Ministry of Culture's proposal for a new Copyright Act by the deadline of September 1. TONO has long pointed out the need for a modernization of the Copyright Act.

"Over the past 20 years, the legal rules have been partly outdated and lagging behind technological developments," says TONO in the introduction. It further states:

“TONO expects that the final bill will help restore this balance, so that the government's main goal is achieved, namely "that creative and performing artists will be able to make a living from their activities to a greater extent, and that investments in creative content are facilitated."
