If you want to see new works that you TONO register in your works list on Mitt TONO from December 16 to mid-January, you must register them by December 2. – The reason is a major and important technical upgrade that will ensure safe and efficient operation of TONO's works database in the years to come, explains Membership Manager Jan Espen Storo. Those who apply to become a TONO member during this period will also not receive confirmation of this until mid-January.
/ 22/11/2024 / Willy MartinsenTONO's works database is the real "gold" in TONO. This is where the works we look after and manage, on behalf of you who are TONO members, are located. You deserve that we have the best systems. TONO uses a company called ICE to operate and manage our works database, and now it is being upgraded.
– The works information is being moved from physical servers to a new and modern cloud-based solution. This provides greater capacity, security and flexibility for the future. Data quality and good technical solutions are fundamental to our work in managing our members' music. The new solution provides safe and efficient operations in the years to come, says Jan Espen Storo, member manager at TONO.
The transition to the new technical solution requires a transition phase of approximately four weeks. During this time, the work lists in Mitt TONO will be “frozen”, and new applications for membership will not be processed until the freeze period is over. This phase will start on December 16.
This means that works you register in My TONO after December 2nd is registered, but they will not appear in your works list until the data has been processed. Similarly, new membership applications will not be processed until after this period. This will happen after the system, as planned, goes "live" in mid-January.
As with all technical upgrades, we must take into account that unforeseen challenges may arise, which may mean that the freeze period may last a little longer than mid-January. If this happens, information will be provided on tono.no.
But please note that you must register works by December 2nd if they are to be visible in the works list on Mitt TONO before mid/late January. And correspondingly: If you apply to become a TONO member during these weeks, you will not receive a final confirmation of this until then.
To those of you in music publishing: If you wish to register new works, submit new publishing agreements or make changes to existing agreements, you must also do this by December 2nd to ensure that the information can be processed by ICE and become visible in Mitt TONO during the period.
– It is important to emphasize that no data is lost. All new works registered during this period will be stored, even if they are temporarily not visible in Mitt TONO, assures Storo.
The technical transition is being handled by ICE, the company that operates and manages the technical solution for TONO's works information. ICE is owned by TONO's sister societies STIM (Sweden), PRS (UK), SABAM (Belgium) and GEMA (Germany), and specializes in technical operations for several European rights companies, including KODA (Denmark) and Teosto (Finland).
TONO looks forward to moving to a new and future-proof technological platform in January, and apologizes for any inconvenience the freeze period may cause.
