Susanne Sundfør received TONO's Edvard Prize during the Oslo Jazz Festival on Thursday, August 18. Sundfør received the award for the album The Brothel in the popular music category.
/ 18/08/2011 / codex− Susanne Sundfør is still a young artist, but she has created an album that is as heavy and delicate as only a very mature and experienced artist can do, said award presenter Maja SK Ratkje at Sentrum Scene. Here, both the dark, adventurous and the painful, light are present. The compositions are both dramatic and beautiful, they create a kind of hypermodern seriousness.
– I am incredibly happy and humbled to receive the Edvard Prize. It gives me inspiration to continue, says prize winner Susanne Sundfør in a comment. Sundfør received the prize after performing the commissioned work “A Night at Salle Pleyel”. The concert was a collaboration between Oslo Jazz Festival and Ladyfest.
TONO's Edvard Prize consists of Bruno Oldani's unique trophy, diploma and kr 50.000.
