2015 was a good year for TONO, with a total turnover of 588,5 million kroner. During 2015, TONO gained 1,575 new members, and TONO's nearly 28,000 members registered a total of 29,000 new musical works with the organization last year. You can now read TONO's annual report online.
/ 30/05/2016 / codexTONO's total revenue in 2015 was kr 588,516,050, before losses and statutory deductions to the Norwegian Composers' Fund (managed by the Ministry of Culture). This corresponds to an increase in gross revenue of NOK 83,5 million from the previous year. In recent years, TONO has experienced stable and significant organic growth, with revenues from abroad and streaming as the largest growth areas for 2015. The result for 2015 is also positively affected by a Norwaco settlement that provided a significant settlement to TONO. The result after deductions for operating costs, which go entirely to the rights holders, was NOK 492.7 million.
The use of Norwegian-written music accounts for approximately 40 percent of TONO's total revenue. In streaming services, approximately 12 percent of Norwegian-written, TONO-managed music was streamed in 2015. The annual report also shows the Norwegian share for some other of TONO's areas: Radio (37,7 percent), concerts (69,6 percent), TV (13,6 percent) and cinema (17,1 percent).
During 2015, TONO gained 1,575 new members, of which 15 were music publishers. In total, TONO had 27,756 members at the end of 2015, and also managed the rights of more than 2,5 million rights holders from other countries. TONO's members registered 29,000 new works during the year.
