About TONO:

TONO was founded in 1928 and is a non-profit cooperative owned and managed by its members, who are composers, lyricists and music publishers. TONO operates collective rights management on the basis of management contracts with more than 37,000 rights holders in Norway, and at the same time represents the international music repertoire on behalf of millions of authors and music publishers, based on reciprocal representation agreements with corresponding collective management companies in other countries. On behalf of the rights holders, TONO manages the economic exclusive rights in the music they have created, and grants permission for the use of protected music on radio, TV, the internet, cinema and other public contexts for a fee. The economic result is transferred each year to the rights holders of the musical works that have been used. TONO provides music creators with an economic basis to be able to create new music, and collects and simplifies the licensing of protected music to music users. TONO's turnover in 2021 was NOK 843,9 million.
