TONO and NetCom agree on the licensing of NetCom's new Music Player

NetCom yesterday launched its new mobile music service "Music Player", - a music subscription that gives the user the opportunity to download millions of songs to their mobile phone by paying a fixed amount per month. The agreement between NetCom and TONO means that we are now seeing one of the first pure music subscription services directly to mobile phones here in Norway.

TONO has had a good collaboration with NetCom for many years regarding the clearance of music rights for use in various mobile services. Many of TONO's members recognize this, among other things, through their settlements for ringtone sales, a music use that has generated quite large revenues for songwriters over the more than 10 years that TONO has managed this area.

TONO and NetCom will continue their collaboration on licensing music for mobile phones in the coming months, and we are pleased to enter into such agreements for music use in new services that give users a very good alternative to illegal downloading on the internet. This is important for our members who try to make a living from their music every day - also in new media.
