TONO and the Norwegian Music Council have reached an agreement on an agreement for the association's performing teams for 2018 and 2019. The agreement, which has now been signed by both parties, includes the performing teams in the Norwegian Band Association, the Norwegian Choir Association and those of NMR's member organizations that have performing teams.
/ 08/03/2018 / Willy Martinsen– We have been in negotiations with the Norwegian Music Council for a long time regarding a new framework agreement for the performing arts groups belonging to the association. We have now reached an agreement that has been approved by the respective boards. We are satisfied that we now have an agreement that involves simplification for both parties, and that provides predictability in the future, says Geir Gaarder, negotiation director at TONO.
The framework agreement covers 4,500 groups, and with the new framework agreement, the performing groups receive permission from TONO to perform protected music at all concerts that are arranged. For TONO, the agreement means an increase in remuneration compared to the old agreement. This is partly due to the fact that the new agreement is based on more concerts than before. Under the new framework agreement, TONO will invoice once a year, and NMR will invoice the 16 organizations covered by the agreement. This means a simplification for TONO compared to the old agreement, where TONO invoiced each individual organization.
