Congregations that do not want to pay a unit price for live online services have now received a new, simple and flexible offer from TONO.
/ 30/06/2020 / Willy MartinsenWith the spring corona crisis, many Norwegian congregations began streaming their church services directly online. As is known, music is performed in church services, and thus permission from the authors is required via TONO. The price per church service is 300 kroner per time. Now, congregations that want to stream church services on a regular basis will receive a new, simpler and more flexible offer from TONO in the form of two alternative types of six-monthly agreements:
1. Half-year agreement for up to 10 church services for NOK 2,500.
2. Six-month agreement for up to 26 church services at NOK 5,000 for live streaming of church services
If this might be a good solution for your congregation, contact TONO's Online Media department by email. online@tono.no
The half-year agreement does not apply to online concerts.
The agreement TONO is currently offering only covers church services and devotions. If the congregation wants to arrange a live online concert, this is a completely different type of music use, and a separate agreement is required for this.
Remember to report!
The money we receive from live online services goes towards important TONO payments to those who have written the music that is performed. But in order for TONO to be able to do this, we depend on music reports. Therefore, we emphasize that it is very important that congregations not only pay TONO for the performances, but also report the music use. To report, use the reporting form that can be found at click here.
Remember NCB if a recording should be available
It is important to be aware that there are several types of rights in the music field. For copyrights, another area of rights comes into play if music is recorded and made available to the public, for example by recording a live church service that you want to post online afterwards. In such cases, the synchronization must also be cleared. This is not done via TONO, but at NCB. For more information about prices and conditions, and to clear these rights, you must contact NCB. Feel free to start by visiting NCB's website.
