TONO's Inger Elise Mey led a professional conversation with Netflix executive Jeannette Dietrich during a CISAC conference in Vilnius at the turn of the month.
/ 19/05/2025 / Kristian DugstadOn April 29th and 30th, the annual meeting was held in CISACs European Committee Held in Vilnius, Lithuania, the conference brings together professionals from CISAC member organizations around the world to discuss current topics related to copyright, licensing models and developments in the global market for the use of music.
From TONO, CEO Karl Vestli and Department Director for International, Inger Elise Mey, participated.
The case continues under forms.

During the conference, Inger Elise Mey led a so-called fireside chat with Jeannette Dietrich, Director Global Music & CMOs at Netflix. The conversation was initiated by CISAC and addressed the relationship between collective management organizations and the global video streaming platform.
Netflix is a key player for many of CISAC's member organisations, both as a customer, partner and negotiator. Dietrich has held senior positions at Netflix for a number of years and has extensive experience negotiating with rights companies internationally.
– It was a good and open conversation. She presented how Netflix views the collaboration with collective rights organizations today, and what opportunities and challenges they see going forward, says Mey.
Topics discussed included licensing of music to streaming platforms, challenges with buy-out agreements, reporting and information sharing, and how rights companies and platforms can collaborate on better solutions.
Dietrich highlighted, among other things, the desire for simpler reporting of cue sheets and emphasized Netflix's support for blanket licensingmodel, where one TONO company in each country licenses rights both on behalf of its members and the entire world repertoire.
The European Committee meeting is an international forum where companies have the opportunity to share experiences and views across borders. CISAC also uses the meeting to solicit input from member organisations on topics that affect the entire collective management and licensing system.
Among the topics that characterized this year's discussions were artificial intelligence, the economics of music streaming and video-on-demand, as well as structural issues related to licensing and rights clearance.
– It is valuable to be able to meet colleagues from all over the world and exchange experiences across sectors. This CISAC meeting is one of the few major international meeting points that brings together many of the professionals who work closely with both management, licensing and policy, says Mey.
