TONO congratulates Jon Fosse on the Nobel Prize in Literature

On Thursday, it was announced that renowned author and playwright Jon Fosse is the first Norwegian to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature in 95 years. The last time was when Sigrid Undset received the prize in 1928. Before her, Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson and Knut Hamsun have received the prize.

Lyrics by Fosse have been set to music on a number of occasions, and he himself became a member of TONO on December 11, 1996.

Fosse receives the award for his innovative drama and prose that gives voice to the unspeakable.

TONO would like to congratulate Fosse on this enormous recognition.
