TONO has been working for a long time to implement a new works database system. We are now in the phase where the system is actually implemented. This will have some consequences for you as a user of the My TONO service. More about this further down.
The new system is called ICE, and is owned by TONO's sister societies PRS (England), GEMA (Germany) and STIM (Sweden). The system is thus developed by our own industry, and TONO is joining the system together with Danish KODA and Finnish Teosto.
The purpose of switching to ICE is to be able to efficiently and effectively manage the large amounts of data required to pay remuneration to music creators and music publishers when the music they own is performed publicly.
ICE currently has a database of more than 170,000 international composers, lyricists and music publishers, with more than 19 million existing works and 2,8 million new works registered per year. When TONO joins ICE, along with KODA and Teosto, the ICE works database will contain more than 25 million works.
important information
Until mid-October you will be able to use Mitt TONO as usual. The works registered until 25 September will not be visible until the new system is in production in mid-October. Please note that in the period until mid-October (tentatively 12 October) it will not be possible to create a new user profile on Mitt TONO.
In the period from 17 pm on September 25th until mid-October, it will not be possible to report concerts or review new works in Mitt TONO. As a result, TONO is postponing the deadline for reporting concerts from the first half of 2015 from October 1st to November 1st.
It will also not be possible to change your username and password during this period. If you have forgotten your password, you will be assigned a temporary password valid for 24 hours.
You can still log in and view your billing documents and works.
The benefits of switching to ICE
The transition to the ICE works database means that TONO can save time in identifying a large part of the international repertoire, and that TONO's repertoire will be better exposed to the other management companies that use ICE. Another major and important advantage is that there are now six different management companies that share one works database. The transition will also mean that we can strengthen our service, and ensure that our payments across borders are of optimal quality.
If you have any questions regarding the transition to the ICE works database, you are most welcome to contact Member Services at medlem@tono.no or by telephone 22 05 72 80.
