This weekend, TONO will be giving lectures for concert organizers and musicians during “Blest 2015” which is being held in Høyanger. “We are looking forward to meeting the music community in Hordaland and Sogn og Fjordane,” say TONO’s Håvard Offer-Ohlsen and Tove Strauss.
/ 11/11/2015 / codexBlest is the meeting place for the music community in Sogn og Fjordane and Hordaland. This is the fifth year in a row that Blest has been held.
The conference has an exciting and comprehensive program. A report on music festivals in Hordaland and Sogn og Fjordane will be presented, there will be speed meetings with some of the most important players in the Norwegian music industry, a workshop with songwriter Martin Sjølie and British producer Michael Angelo, several exciting concerts – and not least lectures from TONO.
The TONO lectures will provide basic knowledge about what TONO does, and how TONO can be an important partner for both songwriters and concert organizers. The TONO lectures will both take place on Saturday.
– Copyright management may sound a bit distant from the everyday life of those who write music, but it is nevertheless important. Copyright is the only right a songwriter has, and not least, this has very important economic consequences for those who write music. It is as simple as those who write songs will earn money that you would otherwise miss out on if you were not a TONO member, says Offer-Ohlsen, who works as a consultant at TONO's member service.
Tove Strauss works in TONO's marketing department, and knows everything concert organizers need to know about TONO. All concert organizers must have an agreement with TONO, but where does the money go?
– For our members, concert performances are important income, and TONO's job is to collect and pay further remuneration for the performance of their songs. I will talk about this, and other things concert organizers need to know about TONO, says Strauss.
In addition to her lecture, she will participate in the speed meeting program on Saturday, where participants can book meetings with the speaker they want to talk to a little more.
