Every day is a day to write new music and play concerts. But as a TONO member, there are some days we hope you will notice in particular. This is the TONO year 2020.
/ 17/01/2020 / Kristian DugstadTONO works every day to ensure that composers, lyricists and music publishers get paid when their music is used.
To make this possible, and to stimulate the creation of new music, we have a number of activities throughout the year. Here is the list of dates we hope you will take note of.
TONO will also have four main settlements in 2020. If you have transfers that have been reported and registered with TONO, you can expect settlements on March 23, June 11, October 1 and December 9.
Different areas are settled in these four main settlements. More information about this will be published on TONO.no and sent to the relevant members in connection with each individual settlement.
TONO is owned and governed by its members: composers, lyricists and music publishers. The highest governing body is TONO's annual meeting, where board members and committees are elected and the statutes can be amended.
TONO's annual meeting will be held on June 10, 2020. In order to participate in the annual meeting, you must be a member of the cooperative TONO SA.
The deadline for cooperative members to submit proposals for candidates for the personal elections at this year's annual meeting is February 21. These are sent to Helene.Rognoy@tono.no.
TONO's two scholarship schemes, the TONO Scholarship and Young Talents, are instruments that are intended to provide concrete stimulation for the creation of new musical works and new music lyrics.
In 2020, the application portal will open on Wednesday, March 11. The deadline for applications is Wednesday, April 15 at 16:00 PM. More information about this will be provided on TONO.no at the start of the application period.
Which applications will be granted a scholarship will be announced at the end of May.
In order for us to be able to settle and distribute money as accurately and efficiently as possible, we need your help as a member. It is important that you register all new works in Mitt TONO as they are written. You also report concerts you play to us in the same service.
Deadlines for concert reporting are February 1 for the second half of 2019 and October 1 for the first half of 2020.
You do this on the web service for members My TONO.
TONO has awarded the EDVARD Prize annually (with the exception of 2009) since 1998. The prize is awarded to TONO licensees in several categories, which have varied over the years.
The nominees for the 2020 EDVARD Prize will be announced in May. The prizes will be awarded during the autumn of 2020. (Note! The jury will base its work on premiere performance lists from TONO and the National Library for 2019. It is therefore not an award where authors themselves submit works for nomination).
TONO also awards the "TONO Mediator Award", which can be awarded to non-TONO members – for example festivals, record labels, etc., who have distinguished themselves through the dissemination of TONO's repertoire. This does not happen at a set time.
The Spellemannprisen 2020 will be awarded on March 28. TONO is the guarantor of the TONO composer prize and the lyricist prize, and also appoints the jury for these.
We would like to meet members and are present at a number of venues throughout the year. These can be industry festivals such as Trondheim Calling, by:Larm in Oslo, Vill Vill Vest in Bergen and more. We also visit training institutions, office days and seminars with lectures about TONO's activities and copyright.
If you are in Oslo and would like to meet TONO, members are always welcome at our premises at Tøyenbekken 21 on Grønland in Oslo.
We would also like to encourage you to stay up to date with news from TONO throughout the year by visiting TONO.no regularly, and by following us on social media. You can find us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn. By following us here, you will also be reminded of current events.
