In January 2019, it was announced that Økokrim was investigating the case. Now, the Right24 og Dagens Naeringsliv a ruling from the Supreme Court's Appeals Committee stating that the service has had the status of a suspect in serious data fraud since June 21, 2019.

The allegations that have emerged in this case have unfortunately not been trustworthy. What we have heard along the way in this case concerns us, and we look forward to Økokrim now gaining access to all relevant data and documents. We are also pleased to hear that there is progress in the investigation, as this is a matter that both we at TONO, our members and the music industry in Norway and in other countries are concerned about, says Cato Strøm, CEO of TONO.
The case, which has now been pending all the way to the Supreme Court, concerns whether Økokrim should be able to seize documents about Tidal's streaming platform and business model, documents that, according to Tidal, contain trade secrets.
