After the annual meeting on June 9, there has been some noise in TONO, and we on the board have worked quickly and purposefully to try to gather the breadth of what together constitutes TONO. At the board meeting in June, we decided to call an extraordinary annual meeting on September 1, and to temporarily reduce the level of cultural contributions, while a new and better-established model is developed.
/ 02/07/2026 / Tom Hugo Hermansen, Chairman of TONOIn our work now, we are primarily looking forward to the new extraordinary annual meeting, and are working to make it the best possible. To ensure that the decisions we make there actually reflect the entire breadth of TONO, we have set up working groups to look at and work on both the composition of the board and the distribution of cultural contributions. The groups work in parallel and the goal is that these will provide a basis from which the board can prepare proposals for decisions.
In August, we are also inviting members from different parts of the Norwegian music scene to participate in involvement meetings where they can provide input. There will not be fixed proposals presented, but rather a starting point to discuss different perspectives, discuss some of the most contentious issues, and get input on good compromises that as many people as possible can support.
We on the board are committed to ensuring that the extraordinary annual meeting and the run-up to it will be a truly democratic space.
Going forward, we will also work on communicating better in areas where we previously saw that TONO has not been as good at communicating. This means, among other things, explaining how the systems around collective management work, what cultural contributions are all about, and answering questions and misunderstandings.
We hope we can achieve a good and open process in the future. TONO ER its members and we all need good and constructive input from you on the way forward. Because we are strongest when we are united.
Today, it has been announced the date for input meeting and opportunity to provide written input. More information about the involvement process will be available during July. Invitations to the annual meeting with agenda papers will be sent to TONO's voting members no later than August 18, two weeks before the annual meeting, in line with TONO's statutes.
With wishes for a good summer,
Tom Hugo Hermansen
Chairman of the Board of Directors of TONO
