The government announced on February 3 that it would grant up to NOK 40 million in compensation for authors and musicians' loss of royalties through TONO and Gramo. TONO is now in the process with the Ministry of Culture on how this compensation will be made in practice.
/ 18/03/2021 / Willy MartinsenIt was at a press conference on February 3 that the government led by Minister of Culture Abid Q. Raja announced that up to NOK 40 million of a stimulus package of NOK 165 million for established schemes in the cultural sector would be distributed to TONO and Gramo. TONO has now applied to the Ministry of Culture for state support. The support will provide partial compensation for members' lost TONO income in 2020. However, the details of this are not yet clear. TONO has been, and is still, in a process with the Ministry to determine the exact amount and what guidelines the Ministry will include in the award letter. Once this is clear, TONO will be able to develop specific criteria and set a timetable for the disbursement of these funds.
We know that this is important to many of TONO's members, and will provide more information about this as soon as all details are clear.
