Seek support to create new music 

The Norwegian Composers' Fund The fund aims to contribute to the creation of new music and provides financial support to active music creators living and working in Norway. In addition, the fund supports projects that promote and disseminate new music. 

Who can apply? 

Both those who create music and those who commission music, for example for a festival, can apply for funding: 

• Music creators can apply for a fee for writing new music to be performed live or streamed. Applications over 150,000 kroner must include confirmation of performance or a plan for how the music will reach the audience.  

• Customers of music – for example festivals, organizers, performers or institutions – can apply for funding for composer fees. If the project involves multiple composers, each must submit a separate application. 

The money comes from TONO

Every year, TONO pays two percent of our gross income to the Norwegian Composers' Fund. This is due to a law called "Act on the Fee to the Norwegian Composers' Fund". In 2024, we paid more than NOK 17 million to the fund, which distributes the funds to new music projects. 

Application deadlines in 2025 

You can apply for support twice a year: 

• Monday, March 3 at 13:00 PM (the deadline has been postponed because March 2nd falls on a Sunday) 

• Thursday, October 2 at 13:00 PM
