The Norwegian Composers' Fund aims to promote creative musical art regardless of musical genre. The autumn application deadline is 2 October at 13:00. Please note that there are only orderers of musical works that can apply for support from the fund.

On Music funds.no On its website, the fund's purpose is defined as follows:

"The Norwegian Composers' Fund shall stimulate the promotion of creative musical art, regardless of genre. The fund's funds shall primarily be used to support the commissioning of new musical works from composers who primarily live and work in Norway, and who have publicly demonstrated their professional activity as a composer. The fund does this primarily by granting applications for financing of commissioned works and project works."

Who can apply?
You can apply for support within all musical genres, but a distinctive feature of this fund is that it is only music commissioners who can apply. In other words, it is not an opportunity for composers or lyricists to apply for support for themselves. Clients can, for example, be organizations, performance institutions, ensembles, project managers and individual musicians who are professionally active as "concert performers". On their website, the Music Foundations give the following examples of possible applicants: Jazz, rock or singing clubs, Friends of Music, festivals, cultural centers, private organizers, bands/ensemble, solo artists/soloists and lyricists.

The funds available to the fund come from TONO, which is imposed by Act of 9 April 1965, No. 1, on fees to the Norwegian Composers' Fund to pay a fee to this fund. The Ministry of Culture has set the level at 2 percent of gross turnover.
