The Norwegian Music Publishers Association (NMFF) will again this year award travel and project grants to Norwegian music publishers who work for Norwegian composers and songwriters. The application deadline this year is set for November 15th.
/ 15/10/2012 / codex– Last year, we received support for one of our composers, Mats Lie Skåre, who has begun to make a name for himself, including three top chart positions in Japan and a 2nd place on Billboard. He is increasingly working from abroad, and has benefited greatly from the project grant he was awarded by NMFF last year, says Steinar Fjeld, CEO of Warner Chappell Norway. – This is an important grant for the Norwegian music publishing community. We need some success stories, and this grant can help talents, for example, travel to song camps, MIDEM and so on, and make important contacts.
The scholarship has been awarded for a number of years, and this year, like last year, scholarships are awarded for travel and projects respectively. Last year, 9 travel scholarships and 11 project scholarships were awarded based on 12 and 14 applications, respectively. – The scholarship will contribute to professionalizing and stimulating Norwegian publishers who work for Norwegian authors. The funds will be used for the best interests of Norwegian music publishers and their Norwegian songwriters and composers so that they can strengthen and consolidate their position in cultural Norway, says NMFF's Secretary General Cathrine Ruud. The scholarship funds come from the cultural funds in Tono, which will be used to promote national music and cultural purposes through Tono's group associations Norwegian Composers' Association, NOPA and NMFF. The funds will be used to help carry out tasks to promote Norwegian creative music and Norwegian musical works.
