TONO will facilitate efficient and simple rights management for both members and customers. At the same time, we will ensure that music creators are fairly paid for the use of their music.

Collective management of performance rights offers major benefits. Music users gain access to a large repertoire and predictable prices. Music creators receive revenues that accurately reflect music usage in the market, and they are protected from negotiations with a large power imbalance.

Music in video games is a complex area where producers and distributors need a wide range of rights, such as synchronization, performance and recording rights. Game producers also usually depend on a great deal of freedom in their use of music.

Trial scheme for self-management

TONO's management contract basically involves exclusive management. At the same time, it is important for TONO not to hinder our members' income generation.

As part of a trial scheme, TONO is therefore giving its members access to self-manage commissioned music for games.

The music transferred to the game producer must be commissioned work. Self-management only includes use of the music as part of the game.

In other words, TONO's members can make a direct agreement with the game manufacturer, allowing them to produce and distribute the game.

Must be registered in TONO – then you will also receive TONO income from other uses

Despite the ability to self-manage works towards game producers, you will still receive TONO revenue from all other uses of the music.

Composers must register their music in My TONO anyway, as the music is managed by TONO in all areas other than those mentioned above.

This includes, among other things, concert performances, broadcasting, physical and digital sales and streaming on Spotify and other music services.

Commissioned music for games is registered in My TONO in the usual way. Please write in the comments field that it is commissioned music and which game it is for.
