Last week, Helge Sunde was awarded the Edvard Prize in the Open Class, while Ellen Andrea Wang was named winner of the TONO Prize's Challenger of the Year category.
/ 19/08/2013 / codexSunde and Wang both operate within the world of jazz. Helge Sunde was named winner of the Open Class on the basis of the album Windfall with the band Ensemble Denade. Ellen Andrea Wang has been named Challenger of the Year. The TONO award is given based on a general assessment, but it is the song Call me with the band Pixel in particular that forms the basis for the award.
Both awards were presented at the National Jazz Stage Victoria, as part of the Oslo Jazz Festival. Chairman Bendik Hofseth presented the award to Sunde, while TONO Communications Manager Willy Martinsen presented the TONO Award.
