Three music rights in one
In November, TONO sent out the first collective invoices for TONO, Gramo and the Fund for Performing Artists. With one invoice, it will be easier than ever for Norwegian businesses to play the world's best background music.

We at TONO and Gramo believe that we represent the world's best music.
No other license gives businesses the opportunity to play both known and unknown music from an entire world repertoire, including the music heard on the radio, at concerts, on streaming services, and so on.
“But even though we have the music that people really want to hear, it is important that we make it as easy as possible to get, and pay for, the necessary licenses,” says Anne Tone Raknes. She is a sales manager at TONO, and came from Gramo this summer. So did Suzanne Nyhuus, as well as the traveling customer consultants Martin Halla and Kjartan T. Lode.
– We know that mMany have found it cumbersome and confusing to receive one invoice from TONO and one from Gramo for the same music. Many also don't understand why they have to pay both organizations. Now this has become much easier, says Raknes.
The collaboration was announced this summer. Throughout the fall we have been working to get things ready, because it is Quite a lot needs to be put in place to make this happen. New routines have been created, responsibilities have been clarified, websites have been updated, and changes have been made to our invoicing systems.
– We first invoiced just under 100 customers, businesses that already have agreements with both organizations, but who previously received separate invoices. Going forward, customers who have previously only paid fees to one of the organizations will now receive invoices on behalf of both TONO, Gramo and the Performing Arts Fund, says Raknes, adding that an increase in fee income in the background area is thus expected in 2026.
More and more customer groups will receive consolidated invoices throughout 2026.
– The goal of the coordination is to improve our relationship with customers, create greater understanding that good music has value, and to increase our revenues for the benefit of the members of TONO and Gramo, concludes Raknes.
