Today TONO again invited Norwegian music publishers to the Publishers Forum. – Very valuable and important, says TONO Membership Manager, Jan Espen Storo.
Jan Espen Storo, Membership Manager at TONO, opens TONO's Publishers Forum 2018.

An industry-heavy gathering took place in TONO's canteen this afternoon. With 30 representatives from 20 music publishers, there was a record turnout for TONO's second publishing forum 2018.

– Very valuable and important, says TONO's membership manager, Jan Espen Storo.

The publishers gather at TONO twice a year for a professional update. TONO shares relevant information with the publishers, before opening it up for questions.

Two types of members

Like TONO, music publishers work to manage their members' rights in musical works. The publishers can perform a number of administrative tasks on behalf of their rights holders. They often register works in, and receive remuneration from, TONO. It is also not uncommon for a music publisher to own copyright in works. Therefore, they can also be TONO members, despite the fact that they are not individuals.

– The publishing members are very important to TONO. They help authors create great economic value. It is valuable for us to have a meeting place where we can both inform and listen to each other, says Storo.

Many of the music publishers are organized in the group association Musikkforlaggerne. Read more about music publishers on their website.
