If you want to receive concert billing from TONO this fall, you must register both the songs and the concerts with us by February 1st.

This coming Friday is the deadline to register songs and concert performances that will be included in the concert billing this fall. Without the correct information, TONO cannot bill your money.

Organizers are responsible for reporting concerts to TONO, but even though some do, it is very useful for us to receive concert reports from members themselves. This helps TONO catch concerts we might otherwise have missed. In addition, your report allows us to quality check the organizer reports.

Register songs quickly – once

As soon as a work is written, you should register it in TONO.

– We receive quite a few concert reports with works we cannot find in our databases. This is typically because the member has not registered it in TONO yet. In that case, we have to enter it as an unannounced work while waiting for a registration to come in, says Hege Dreyer Harstad at TONO's member service.

And what does this mean for you who have written this unregistered work? Well, first of all, we have to set aside funds for settlement on works we do not yet know who has written, and for you it means in concrete terms that you will not receive settlement until you have registered the work.

It is also good to be aware that different management companies have slightly different practices. Two examples are the German GEMA and the English PRS which operate with a one-year deadline for concert reports. If they have not received a report for a concert within one year of the performance, it may be difficult for us to get money from them..
