The TONO award was established in 2011 and is awarded in two categories, challenger of the year and appeaser. The award consists of a diploma designed by Rune Mortensen and 50.000 kroner.
The jury consisted of Ingrid Kindem, Kari Bremnes, Maja Kjelstrup Ratkje, Dag Krogsvold, Lars Petter Hagen and Synne Skouen (jury chair).
