Bendik Hovik Kjeldsberg sits behind the drum kit with some of the country's biggest artists. When he writes music himself, he uses a drum machine. He is this year's first guest on Lage Musikk.

If you've been to Norwegian festivals in the last five years, there's a good chance you've seen Bendik Hovig Kjeldsberg behind the drum kit. With artists like Bendik, Emilie Nicolas, No. 4, Gundelach and Marit Larsen, among others.
– My parents probably discovered early on that there was some rhythm that you should try to capture. I got a drum kit when I was five. It was right in the living room. I had my dad's entire record collection there, which I played my way through. Everything from Genesis to Jaga Jazzist and Exploding Plastics.
However, this is only part of Bendik's music business, who is a guest on TONO's podcast, Lage Musikk.
In 2017 he debuted with the electronic project Bendik HK, which he has been active with ever since. How did a gifted drummer end up programming drum machines and working with samples? Something that for many drummers is sacrilege.
– I'm not afraid of the electronic taking over the human. It's great that there is a resistance. It does the same job, but in two very different ways.
