Why doesn't anyone do this with rock and metal? Erlend Gjerde wondered.
Gjerde has a background as a drummer in Stonegard, and currently the band Djerv. He is currently the general manager of the record label Indie Recordings.

What creative, aesthetic, political and financial trade-offs must be made when building an artistic career?
At the core of any musical adventure lies the music. In rock and metal, perhaps more than in other genres, there is an idea that the song is created in a tired rehearsal room, without outside interference.
A few years ago, we established a music publishing company to be able to work more with the copyright side of the music we publish, and help the creators earn more money from their intellectual works.
When Gjerde got to know colleagues in the publishing industry through Musikkforleggerne, he quickly discovered a trend: In most genres, a large number of songwriting camps are being organized.
– It must be possible to achieve this in rock and metal too, I thought. We organized the first camp at Rena this fall, and it was an overwhelming success. That's why we have just built a studio in our own premises in Oslo, which will function as a creative space for our songwriters, he says.
