Delivering rights

"Just as you pay for the food that the farmer works hard to produce, you also have to pay the owner of the musical work you use." Music publishers will raise awareness of rights related to the performance and printing of sheet music through a new campaign.

In its new information campaign, the Music Publishers Association will raise awareness about music rights. Just as farmers depend on being paid for their products, music creators live off the economic rights attached to their works.

If you don't pay for the food, the farmer loses his income, and can't continue to produce food. If the creators lose their income from music rights, they too will have to find other work. Then we risk losing future Norwegian music.

Through the campaign, Music Publishers will create understanding of the regulations related to the performance of live music and the purchase and use of sheet music.

The Music Publishers are one of three group associations represented on TONO's board and other committees and committees. These member organizations work to improve the framework conditions for composers and lyricists in Norway through, among other things, political influence.
