On December 7, NCB's management presented a proposal for a future model for the management of mechanical rights in the Nordic region to the NCB board. The proposal would mean that NCB's administrative activities related to licensing, collection and distribution of music rights would continue uninterrupted, but in a new organizational form.

Administration of copyright in record productions and audiovisual productions is carried out by NCB on behalf of the owner companies, which are TONO and TONO's Nordic sister societies. NCB's management, in collaboration with the owner companies, is working this autumn to develop a new model for the future operation of the company. The proposal that was presented to NCB's board on December 7th means that NCB's administrative activities related to licensing, collection and distribution of music rights will continue uninterrupted, but in a new organizational form - specifically where all administrative activities and central administrative resources will be outsourced to TONO's Danish sister society KODA. They will, in line with the proposal, be a "service provider" that will take care of NCB's core business and commercial expertise. A formal decision is expected at an extraordinary general meeting on March 22nd, 2017.

If the general meeting adopts the proposal, NCB and NCB's owner companies will ensure that the implementation of the new model is done in a way that will not have any negative impact on either composers, songwriters and music publishers or on NCB's customers.
