TONO's purchasing strategy

1. Purpose

TONO's purchasing strategy will contribute to realizing TONO's overall business strategy.

TONO's procurement shall contribute to optimal value creation with minimal resource use, while complying with regulations. The procurement process shall ensure high quality of purchased services and products as well as ensuring cost control and risk management. We shall always uphold the requirements for competition, equal treatment and transparency.

2. Main principles

As a general rule, TONO will select offers based on the best ratio between total cost and quality. This assessment will also emphasize how the supplier addresses environmental and social considerations.

All procurements must follow our general purchasing rules and be assessed according to criteria described in TONO's Purchasing Policy – Guidelines for purchasing. These criteria include, among other things, the purpose of the purchase, bidding procedure, technical and financial assessment, needs criteria and sustainability-related considerations.

The Procurement Policy applies to all procurement and purchases in TONO, across departments and in all phases of the procurement process - from planning to contract closing. All employees involved in procurement have a responsibility to follow TONO's Procurement Policy.

TONO has set some milestones for all purchases:

  • The acquisitions will contribute to more efficient resource utilization.
  • The procurements will be carried out digitally and documented in TONO's joint archive system for agreements.
  • TONO shall ensure that suppliers meet our ethical standards, including that suppliers are obliged to sign on TONO's Code of Ethics for suppliers and business partners
  • TONO will prioritize purchases that contribute to reduced environmental impact
  • TONO must demonstrate social responsibility in its procurement

TONO wants to ensure that all procurements safeguard human rights and working conditions. We use the high-risk list from procurement.no as a guide, and tool. This list identifies product categories and supply chains with a high risk of human rights violations. TONO is committed to avoiding these risks by conducting risk assessments and prioritizing suppliers that comply with international standards for human rights and labor conditions.
