How do foreigners really view Norwegian music? This is the topic of NOPA and NKF's monthly Music Forum at Blå on March 27 at 19 p.m. All interested parties are welcome, and admission is free.
/ 06/03/2014 / codexNOPA and the Norwegian Composers' Association (NKF), which are two of TONO's three group associations, want to shine a spotlight on how foreign countries perceive Norwegian music and the Norwegian music industry. How do foreign countries view the identity of Norwegian music and its structures? What challenges and opportunities will the future bring?
The panel will be moderated by Kristin Winsents from NRK, and includes the following celebrity guests: head of the record label ECM, is one of the most central figures in jazz today. He has worked with names such as Jan Garbarek, Chick Corea, Keith Jarret, Terje Rypdal and Pat Metheny. He was also awarded the TONO prize in 2012.
is European A&R head at Universal Music Group. The Swede started out as a drummer in punk and new wave bands and eventually became a session drummer and eventually A&R work in Los Angeles. He is also an experienced music publisher and was a judge on the jury of the Swedish in 2011.
is the artistic director of the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival in the UK. He has followed Norwegian contemporary music closely, and has been a key figure in bringing many Norwegian composers to an international audience.
is the director of Iceland Music Export. Together with Björk, he experienced great international success with the band The Sugarcubes from 1988-92. He has unique experience in communicating music as the director of Iceland Music Export, as a record producer and as a musician.
