NEW TERMS FOR MEGA CONCERTS

TONO refers to the largest concerts as "mega concerts." These are easy for us to administer, and we have therefore treated them according to our own, simplified routines since 1997.

Because both the licensing and billing of these concerts are practically simple, we can both bill them faster than other concerts and charge a flat administration fee of 10 percent.  

The total features for mega concerts are: 

• Statutory deduction of 2 percent to the Norwegian Composers' Fund (DNKF)

• Administration cost for our work of 10 percent 

• Drawdown for cultural funds, i.e. scholarships and music cultural purposes, of approximately 8 percent of the gross amount 
   

PAYMENT NORMALLY WITHIN 30 DAYS 

Payments to rights holders for mega concerts can normally be made within 30 days. In exceptional cases, it may take longer, such as in spring 2026, when we need somewhat longer than normal due to the transition to new IT systems.  

NEW THRESHOLD FOR MEGA CONCERTS 

The threshold for being treated as a mega concert has remained unchanged since the scheme was established in 1997. It has therefore been necessary to increase the threshold from NOK 25,000 to NOK 50,000 in TONO remuneration per concert. The change will come into effect from 1 January 2026. 

 PRACTICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR MEGA CONCERT ADMINISTRATION

In order for a large concert to be licensed and paid out as a mega concert, we must receive: 

• Provisional playlist (to be confirmed after the concert)  

• information about the concert (date, location, organizer and artist)The information is sent by email to: mega@tono.no

In general, it is important that you also report large concerts as early as possible. This ensures smooth processing and faster payouts.
