New routines for members of Norwegian Concert Organizers

From July 1, concert organizers who have previously been part of the Norwegian Concert Organizers (NKA) TONO agreement must enter into separate agreements with TONO.

Unfortunately, NKA and TONO have not reached an agreement regarding a new agreement. There are currently no negotiations taking place in isolation. We nevertheless intend to find good solutions, and are in ongoing negotiations with the Norwegian Music Council, where NKA is also represented. This concerns non-profit and/or voluntary organizations. It is our intention to find solutions that all parties can support.

The absence of an agreement with NKA means that NKA members must clear performance rights directly with TONO on an individual, independent basis from 1 July. NKA, in cooperation with, and with information from TONO, informed members of the new procedures by email in March. TONO has also contacted all affected organizers directly. We reiterate how the affected organizers should deal with TONO in the future.

Those who previously reported to TONO via NKA must now do so directly to TONO. The organizers must also pay TONO fees according to ordinary rates.

Concerts held in the first half of 2017 must be reported to NKA as before, using NKA's reporting form with a deadline of August 30, 2017. NKA will forward this to TONO. For concerts held after July 1, TONO must be contacted directly.

Procedure for entering into an agreement

Background music
Use Agreement form here at tono.no, fill it out and send it to us as soon as possible. All organizers must enter into a fixed, ongoing agreement for the background music, and then choose which type of agreement is desired for the concerts. In the form, you must state the following:

• Juridisk information
• Background music (Mechanical playback of music via system/television/radio/streaming in own premises, for example cafe, bar, restaurant.
• Concert appointment * – select desired option
• Signature and terms of agreement

*Explanation of the concert agreements:

• Fixed term contract: An ongoing agreement for all music use, both concerts and background music. Invoices are sent once a year. When registering for this type of agreement, information about both the second half of 2017 and the entire year of 2018 must be filled in. Use sales figures from the last two years as a basis. The figures must be documented if necessary.
• Reporting agreement: All concerts are reported twice a year, mid-June/December. A separate reporting form will be sent to you by email, after we have received the agreement form.
• Obtain permission in advance event – ​​this is what you do here.

All contract types are calculated according to the tariff.
