In September, NCB launched a new web service that will give composers, lyricists and music publishers the opportunity to get an overview of what music has been released over the years.
/ 25/09/2007 / codexAlbum & Track Search is a new searchable database that contains all music that has been released on phonograms and audiovisual productions under the permission of the NCB. Searches can be made on physical and electronic releases, and can be searched at the album level or on individual tracks.
In the database, you will find information about which tracks are on an album, who the rights holders are and information about which record company is the publisher. If you search for your own published works, you will also receive detailed information such as the distribution of split shares in the work. The service is free for all members of TONO, the other Nordic companies and the Baltic performance companies, and you will gain access to the service through TONO's web services. Those who are already registered as users of this service will automatically gain access to the new service. To begin with, it is assumed that you have previously received a settlement from NCB, but this will be changed in the future to apply to everyone who has access to TONO's web services. At the end of the year, NCB plans to launch another service for its members. This is called Distribution Search, and will be integrated with Album & Track Search. This will give authors and publishers the opportunity to see what remuneration has been paid from NCB for respective tracks and albums all the way back to the year 2000.
