New grant scheme for young Oslo artists

The grant scheme "Next Generation" is intended to help young artists living in Oslo get started with their work more easily after the pandemic. The scheme is funded by the Municipality of Oslo and administered by by:Larm in collaboration with Creo Oslo and the music office MØST. The application deadline is the 15th of each month.

The Municipality of Oslo has allocated 5 million kroner for the new grant scheme, which is administered by by:Larm in collaboration with Creo Oslo and the music office MØST. 

Applications are sent to by:larm here., the application deadline is ongoing, until the funds are exhausted, or no later than May 15, 2022. Applicants who have submitted an application by the 15th of the month will receive a response to their application by the 15th of the following month. The first award will be by September 15, 2021. The first award applies exclusively to assignments carried out in 2021. 

You can apply for from 10,000 to 100,000 kroner.

Goal setting

The scheme is intended to strengthen the youngest creative actors in Oslo's cultural industry. The target group is young creative practitioners and business actors who want to prioritize using young professional cultural industry actors as suppliers. The scheme is intended to help young cultural industry actors get started more easily after the pandemic, for the business community to actively use artistic expressions in a reopening phase in Oslo, and to connect business actors with professional young cultural industry actors. These include musicians, sound and lighting designers, composers, lyricists, producers, scriptwriters, actors, stage managers and all other young professional actors in the cultural field.

The scheme is a project financing, where the grant will lead to a young cultural industry actor being chosen as a supplier. These can be productions in any professional context where artistic expression is needed – TV/radio/media/web, film, stage production, literature, design, etc. The project financing will be co-financing, where the client is responsible for a share.

Criteria for applying

• The project's relevance and development potential for the supplier
• The assignment funding should have a recruiting effect, and not replace ongoing assignments.
• Feasibility within outlined framework
• It is assumed that the client covers a minimum of 40% of the supplier's fee as a deductible. The deductible may consist of the employer's obligations related to, for example, employer's social security contributions, holiday pay, insurance and the like, if the supplier receives the subsidy as a salary from the client.
• The young supplier must be a maximum of 28 years old (not yet 29 years old at the time of application), professional and residing in Oslo.
• The client shall, as a general rule, pay the young supplier according to applicable collective agreements, or where none exist, according to Creo's minimum rates: (https://creokultur.no/lonn-og-arbeidsvilkar/frilanssatser/). The supplier shall be paid on an equal footing with others in the project. Deviations from the main rule shall be justified separately.
• Applicant must have a legal business and a valid organization number
