New chairman of NOPA

Ingrid Kindem has been elected chairwoman of TONO's group association NOPA.

NOPA's general meeting on Tuesday, June 10, elected Ingrid Kindem as the new chair of the board, succeeding Ragnar Bjerkreim, who is stepping down after 6 years. Kindem has been a member of NOPA since 2001, and is stepping down as 2nd vice chair of NOPA's board.

Where TONO is the management company and remuneration agency for Norwegian composers, songwriters, lyricists and music publishers, NOPA is an association that works to promote the interests of authors:

– NOPA is an association of committed composers and lyricists. I am looking forward to taking on the position of chairman of what will be an open and inclusive NOPA in step with the times. We want to highlight the diversity in the Norwegian repertoire, we at NOPA are proud of the great music and lyrics that are created in our small country and want to make it visible, not only in this country but also far beyond Norway's borders, she says.

Kindem was also elected as a new board member of TONO at TONO's annual meeting on June 11, and will also take over from Ragnar Bjerkreim.

Long and broad experience
Kindem, who was born in 1960, has held many positions in Norwegian cultural life, including in NOPA, TONO, the Fund for Sound and Image and the Fund for Performing Artists. She is not least the jury chair for the Edvard Prize, which TONO is behind, but also for Telenor's cultural prize. For the past 3 years, she has worked as a producer in the National Concerts. She also has long and broad experience as a composer, arranger, orchestra leader, musician and producer. She received the Spellemann Prize for the children's album "Eventyrensemblet" in 1996.
