The Music Industry Council today launched a new report on the consequences of the corona pandemic for the Norwegian music industry.

The report has been named Crisis and creativity in the music industry, and can be read here..

BI Center for Creative Industries (BI:CCI) has analyzed the extent of the shutdown among 3723 music industry players, 3057 individuals and 666 companies. The study is a collaboration with the Norwegian Music Industry Council, the regional Music Offices, the Arts Council and the Norwegian Music Council.

88 percent of concerts canceled for the rest of 2020

The report shows that almost all planned concert activity in 2020 has been canceled or postponed indefinitely. 88% of the companies in the survey and 84% of freelancers and self-employed people state that they have lost assignments after March 12. This largely concerns artists, who can no longer play concerts. In addition, large professional groups such as technical suppliers, booking and management have had an extreme drop in income, and many links in the industry chain are still outside the established crisis packages from the government.

TONO's members, the founders, are not the least of the professional groups that have been hit hard by the crisis. TONO has previously calculated its losses for the period from March to the end of August at just over NOK 100 million.
