In recent days, NRK has published several articles about how to navigate rights related to recording and performing other people's works - cover songs in good Norwegian.

TONO's communications manager, Willy Martinsen, has been interviewed in Studio 2 on NRK P2, Nyhetsmorgen on radio, and an article on NRK.no.

– If you create a cover that is faithful to the original work and in line with the intention of the work, no special permission is required. But if you start changing it, for example by writing new lyrics, translating into another language or changing the melody, then you are moving away from the original song, and you must make sure to have permission from those who wrote and own the song, Martinsen said in Studio 2 on Thursday afternoon.

TONO will publish a case about recording and performing other people's music on tono.no in the next few days.
