The jazz news blog "Now's the time" has been awarded TONO's Mediator Prize 2020. - It is liberating to read music journalism that is not governed by commercialism and click-friendliness, the jury writes in its justification.
/ 10/12/2020 / Willy MartinsenThe award was presented on Wednesday, December 9th during an editorial meeting at the premises of Jazznytt in Grensen in Oslo. The informal setting is due to the fact that Covid-19 has made it impossible to present the award on stage in front of an audience as the award is normally presented. It was musician and composer Sten Ove Toft from the Formidlerprisen jury who presented the award to the blog's writers Audun Vinger and Filip Roshauw on behalf of TONO and the jury. The award consists of 50,000 kroner and a diploma designed by Magne Furuholmen.
– There is so much happening, especially in Norwegian music, that we want to highlight. Not just to advertise it, but to find out what it is that they are doing. It is less about “This is good. This is bad”, and more about getting in touch with musicians, and finding out why you get a kick out of it. It is the music that is created in Norway that sparks the enthusiasm for dissemination. It is a result of what is happening in the music field in Norway and the world. So I thank you on behalf of Norwegian music, said Audun Vinger when he and Roshauw received the award.

TONOS INTERMEDIATE PRICE // JAZZNYTT – NOW'S THE TIME
"No one hidden and absolutely no one forgotten seems to be the mantra of "Now's the time". Jazznytt's blog celebrates the greats and highlights the small in in-depth interviews free from editorial restrictions. It is liberating to read music journalism that is not governed by commercialism and click-friendliness. Social media and self-promotion are no substitute for good journalism, and musicians in all genres are dependent on the right media attention. With a knowledgeable pen and playful vocabulary, Audun Vinger and Filip Roshauw lead us weekly through the landscape within the field of "jazz and its surroundings" in the Norwegian music flora. The joy of writing lights up the screen as you scroll through countless columns."
