The founders of the Norwegian Music Fund have decided to liquidate the fund as the foundation's capital is no longer sufficient to meet its purpose in a reasonable manner. The funds will be distributed further through the Composers' Remuneration Fund, as well as prizes and general measures. The liquidation does not affect the operation of the other funds administered by the Music Funds.
/ 31/03/2014 / codexThe Norwegian Music Foundation was established in 1993 by the Norwegian Music Publishers Association, NOPA, the Norwegian Composers' Association and the nyMusikk composers' group as a fund where performing artists could apply for grants. The fund's purpose was to support concerts or marketing initiatives for the benefit of Norwegian contemporary music in all genres. Since then, costs have risen in relation to the allocated funds, and it has been concluded that the foundation's capital is no longer sufficient to meet the purpose in a reasonable manner.
The founders of the fund have therefore concluded that it is a better solution to let the copyright organizations' share be distributed further through the Composers' Remuneration Fund, while the Norwegian Music Publishers Association's share will benefit rights holders through prizes and general measures.
The winding up of the Norwegian Music Fund does not affect the operation of the other funds administered by the Music Funds: The Norwegian Composers' Fund, the Composers' Remuneration Fund and the Lyricist's Fund.
