The Norwegian music industry had a turnover of 3,1 billion in 2012

On behalf of the Arts Council and the Ministry of Culture, the consulting company Rambøll has developed a report that maps the scope of the Norwegian music industry. The report was published today.

The project aimed to present the music industry's total revenue within three main categories: Revenue from recorded music, copyright revenue and concert revenue. The report is based on the year 2012, and shows that the total turnover in the industry amounted to 3,1 billion kroner.

TONO has played a central role in the project, both with a place in the reference group and not least as a supplier of central data.

– It is very useful for the Norwegian music industry that the economic value creation it contributes to the Norwegian economy has been mapped. The report also shows how important copyright is for the professional groups TONO works for: composers, songwriters, lyricists and music publishers. Hopefully, the report will also contribute to increased awareness of this in the future, says Willy Martinsen, Head of Communications at TONO.
