Almost 30,000 composers, lyricists and music publishers are currently members of TONO. In addition, TONO manages the "world repertoire" of music in Norway. Concert organizers, broadcasters, cafes, streaming services and anyone else who wants to use TONO's repertoire must have an agreement with TONO for this, and pay for the use. The money TONO receives is then paid to those who write and own their music. The TONO fee is important income for these creators, and helps ensure that society can enjoy new music.
