NMR without TONO agreement

TONO and the Norwegian Music Council did not reach an agreement on a new agreement for 2021. NMR's member organizations, teams and associations must now apply to TONO for a performance permit themselves. This will initially apply until April 1.

Covid-19 and strict infection control measures are causing great uncertainty for anyone who brings people together physically. The voluntary music scene is no exception.

Due to the unpredictability of 2021, negotiations between the Norwegian Music Council and TONO have not progressed. NMR's member organizations are therefore without a performer and organizer agreement from January 1, 2021.

– It is difficult to predict the level of activity in 2021. The lack of predictability due to Covid-19 is the main reason why the parties did not reach an agreement, says Geir Gaarder, Director of Negotiations at TONO.

Organizations, teams and associations under NMR are now responsible for applying for permission to use their music from TONO in each individual case. This is currently valid until April 1st.

Permission from TONO will be granted in accordance with current tariffs. Application and reporting can be made here: https://www.tono.no/kunder/konsert-event/#skjema
