An extraordinary general meeting was held at NCB on March 22. It was decided that NCB would enter into a cooperation agreement with TONO's Danish sister society KODA, which entails that KODA will provide services to NCB related to licensing of mechanical rights and administrative services, and that NCB will become an organization without its own employees.
The General Assembly emphasized the following main arguments in its decision:
- NCB is maintained as a formal entity to ensure continuity of mechanical and administrative agreements
- Continued Nordic/Baltic cooperation is the most economically viable model
- An NCB agreement with KODA would be best suited to safeguard the interests of composers, lyricists and music publishers as the geographical proximity between NCB's offices and KODA enables a transfer of key staff.
Composers, lyricists, music publishers and foreign sister societies can therefore continue to expect the best service from NCB in the years to come.
