The two scholarship schemes, the TONO scholarship and Young Talents, are intended to be instruments that will stimulate the creation of new musical works and new music lyrics. This year, a total of NOK 11,9 million has been allocated for the scholarships. TONO's group associations NOPA (Norwegian Association of Composers and Lyricists) and NKF (Norwegian Composers' Association) have allocated funds for the Young Talents scholarship scheme, which is awarded as part of the scheme.
– TONO's statutes state that one of TONO's tasks is to work towards the creation of new musical works. Over the years, the scholarship has had great significance for Norwegian music life by providing the necessary support to realize very specific projects that result in newly written musical works, says TONO Deputy Director Svein Korshamn, who coordinates the scholarship work at TONO.
