In 2026, the application period for the TONO scholarship and the Young Talents scholarship is from Tuesday, March 10 at 10:00 AM to April 15 at 3:00 PM. Here you can see the application criteria and how to apply.

You can apply for a scholarship on the member portal. My TONO. After you log in there, click on the menu option Stipend to go to the application form.
– One of TONO's tasks is to work towards the innovation of music. We do this by granting licenses to streaming services, concert organizers, etc. and by paying out money when the music is used, but also through our scholarship schemes. We know very well that a lot of music is created and performed every year because the creators have received TONO scholarships, says Deputy Director of TONO, Svein Korshamn, who is one of the TONO administration members who assists the scholarship committee in their work.
Applicants for The TONO scholarship must be a member of TONO, and must normally have had an average settlement in the previous three years of at least kr 5,000 per year. It is important that you thoroughly familiarize yourself with the application criteria, which you can find on tono.no by clicking here.There you will see, among other things, that it is crucial that you can only apply for grants that will contribute to the creation of new music.
To be able to apply for the "Young Talents" scholarship, the only criterion is that you must be a TONO member between the ages of 17 and 23. This means that you must have been born between 01.01.2003 and 31.12.2009.

The final application deadline is Wednesday, April 15th at 15:00 PM, but we encourage you to apply as early in the period as possible. This makes the work of handling the applications more manageable for TONO's staff.

According to TONO's statutes, § 58, TONO allocates up to 8 percent of the organization's income to cultural funds each year. One third of these funds go to scholarships: 7/8 to the TONO scholarships and 1/8 to the Music Publishers' Scholarship Scheme. The remaining two thirds go to national music cultural purposes through TONO's three group associations NOPA, the Norwegian Composers' Association and the Music Publishers' Association. Last year, TONO distributed 16,5 million kroner. to 680 scholarships divided into 400 TONO scholarships and 280 Young Talent scholarships. This year's scholarship pool is 17,3 million kroner.
