It is indeed possible to hear colors, see sounds, and taste touches. For example, the note C can be perceived as 'yellow', or the letter A as 'red'. Synesthesia is not only interesting from a philosophical and neuroscientific perspective, but also from a musical one:

Bruno Long

Bruno Laeng is Professor of Cognitive Neuropsychology at the University of Oslo. He holds a Bachelor's degree in experimental psychology from Universitá La Sapienza (Rome, Italy) and a PhD in biological psychology from The University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA).

He has previously worked at the University of Bergen, the University of Tromsø, the University of Guelph (Canada) and Harvard University (USA). Bruno Laeng's research focuses on visual attention and visual perception (shapes, spatial relationships, colors), mental representations, synesthesia, visual memory, facial emotions and music.
